The Attributes of the Spirit Filled Life
Galatians 5:22-23a ESV
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control”
These fruits of the Spirit we will call attributes of a Spirit filled life. These attributes are the results of the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives.
When we came to Jesus, the Holy Spirit moved into our lives to conform us to the image of Christ, making us more like Him. He works out the old nature stuff and begins to work in us, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
If we look at this list and say that we don’t have all of these attributes pouring out of us, then are we saying there is a deficit in our lives because these attributes will make us more complete in Christ.
If You say, come on Johnie, we can’t be that way all the time, neither can you. Ok, I accept that, but allowing the Holy Spirit to work on us daily to exude these attributes is my goal and should be our goal.
Let’s take this slowly. Today, work on being lovable and loving others. Today, decide that we are going to have joy and we will not give up our joy to anyone that comes along to try and steal our joy. We will retain our joy and use it to make our hearts glad.
These attributes are a decision that we have to make in order to live fulfilled lives in Jesus.
Prayer:
Lord, today we will work on be lovable and loving others. We will approach this day with joy, and We will tell our faces to get with the program and smile more today to show others that we have a heart of Joy. Help us Lord to be more like You, Amen!
