Rescue the Perishing

Proverbs 24:11-12 ESV
“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will He not repay man according to his work?”

There are other verses that back this passage up:

Jude 1:23 ESV “save others by snatching them out of the fire…”

James 4:17 ESV “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”

As children of God, we cannot ignore those who are heading in the wrong direction, even heading into danger and self destruction. I watched my brother destroy his life with drugs and alcohol and many tried to help him to stop. He would not stop until it started to destroy his body, but it was too late at that point.

It’s a horrible feeling to watch someone heading to destruction. We cannot turn a blind eye to those that are on a path of self destruction. God is trying to use us to turn people around and save them. No one deserves death or destruction.

Prayer:
Father, forgive me for the times that I did not try to pull back one of Your children from self-destruction. Keep me from the willful sin of knowing to do good, but I deside not do it.
