Level Pathways

Psalms 143:10-11 ESV

“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!  For your name’s sake, O Lord, preserve my life! In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble!”

Knowing the will of God is great wisdom and knowledge. According to Romans 12:2, Paul says that we have to look away from the world’s standards and not conform to its way of thinking. Then we have to transform our minds in God’s word to be able to know the perfect will of God for our lives.

David asks God to teach him of His will. How can we do that unless we understand what God’s will is for our lives? That will come by reading and studying His Word.

Then David asks God to lead him on level ground, that suggests stability and direction in David’s life. It symbolizes clarity, safety, and the absence of obstacles. 

Then David asks to be delivered by God’s righteousness, how does God do that? God’s holy character goes far beyond our comprehension. Just His character on the scene can part waters, put armies to flight, or in our case maybe move mental or spiritual mountains. His character residing in us can change our lives and make us holy just because He is there in us and around us.

Prayer:

Lord, teach us Your will and let Your Spirit lead, guide, and direct our pathway today. Our desire is to please You today Lord, knowing at the same time that You are leading us, You are walking with us side by side. Make level our pathways today. In Your name Lord we pray, Amen!
