I Remember
Psalms 143:5-6 ESV
“I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands. I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land.” Selah (pause and think about this)
Reading through the Bible this year has helped me remember a lot of the characteristics of God. I remember who God was to the Israelites, even as stubborn as they were. I remember how many times they tested God, but God still loved them. He still provided for them, He still led them though knowing they were going to rebel. I remember His plans for Israel going into the promised land, a land that He preserved for them. All they had to do was trust God and take possession of the land, in most cases even without major wars.
I remember that God had promised this land for them hundreds of years before they even existed as a nation, long before they were ever conceived and brought to life. Only a loving, merciful God does all of that, despite what we do or do not do, He still loves us.
I remember the goodness of God as a child, He always provided for us. It may seem random but I remember the homes we lived in as a child. My Father would build a house, and we would live in it for a several years. Then he would build another, and we would move into that home and live in it for several years. All of these houses were within a mile of each other.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your steadfast love that loved Israel no matter what. You have loved us with that same love. You have cared for us, and provided and blessed us far more than we can remember. We thank You for every blessing that we remember and those we have forgotten. In Your name Lord, Amen!
