God Blessings in Strange Places
Exodus 12:33a, 35-36 ESV
“The Egyptians were urgent with the people to send them out of the land in haste. The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing. And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.”
For four hundred and thirty years the Israelites lived in slavery. The night that God set them free, He told Moses to tell the Israelites to ask of the Egyptians for silver, gold jewelry, and clothing. The Egyptians were so ready to get rid of the Israelites that they lavished on them all of these things in abundance. Israelite slaves now went out of Egypt rich. The Israelites walked out of Egypt with all of their goods, and they did not have to fight for it. We serve an amazing God.
God’s intent was not for them to be confident in material things, but that He would always provide for them what they needed if they would only trust Him. God was taking them to the promised land to give them houses that they did not have to build. He was also giving them gardens and vineyards that they did not have to plant. He provided protection along the way. God kept their clothes and shoes from wearing out for forty years.
Israel was a stubborn generation in this story, imagine what He will do for those who believe in and trust in Father God. God will provide exactly what we need as we serve Him with our whole hearts.
Prayer:
Lord, we scratch and claw our way through life trying to get ahead and have enough. As important as it is for us to work hard, I will never will believe Father that what we have actually came from our own hard labor. No, what we have are blessings from You Father God! Thank You Father God for Your provisions, Amen!
