Abundant Life
John 10:10 ESV
Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I (Jesus) came that they (we who have believed and received Jesus Christ) may have life and have it abundantly (an abundant life).”
I will not speak of the thief’s purpose in life. We all know what He is capable of doing, but understand one thing, the world has bought into his lies and deception. We have the mind of Christ, and we see right through his schemes.
What was Jesus referring to when He said that He came that we may have life or abundant life? Abundant life is a life of meaning, a life that is worth living. Not a dull life, but a real life.
Life with the thief is a life of fighting, contention, loss, barely getting by, sorrowful, a disappointing life at best. Do you know most people have experienced this type of life at one point or another? In fact, most people in the realm of the thief, live this life every day.
We who have Jesus, have a hope and a future to look forward to. We have peace, contentment, joy, we can actually look forward to today. This abundant life is knowing that you and I belong to a loving Father God. We may not be rich in money, but we have what need and I’m not just talking about having just enough, but more than enough.
Prayer:
Lord, we choose not to allow the thief to control our life or influence us with his lies and deception. We have turned to received You as Lord and Savior, and we know that You supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory. Thank you for abundant grace and mercy. Thank You for abundant life. In Your name we pray, Amen!
