Change

Genesis 32:24-28 NKJV
“Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

First, don’t think that a mortal man can defeat an Angel. This was a “Let you win for a reason” situation. Jacob had to get out of the old mentality and move on with the new mentality.

Jacob means “deceiver” in the Jewish language? while Israel means “Prince of God.” I would welcome that name change. For me, I needed change in my life many times. As long as I can remember, I have always believed in God. Things changed at 19 when my faith was reborn. I took on a new identity, so to speak. My understanding of God’s word was greatly enhanced.

At 25 there was a shift in my personality to become more open and receptive and to begin the process away from being an introvert. At 30, I had a huge change again, my walk with God had to taken on a new meaning. At 44, I felt like my life was changing again. At 55 I began a new walk with God and I thought that I had found solid ground, I felt like I was on the right path.

Then, at 62, I realized I needed to keep growing, and get better at many things. Now at 66, I look back and see, I still have not met my full potential with God, I have so much more to learn and do.

As I have grown spiritually I realized little by little I have changed mentally as well. With God’s mighty power and my wife’s help, I think I have become a better friend, a better husband, a better father, a better brother, and hopefully, a better pastor.

We have to keep growing with God. None of us are perfect, none of us have reached our full potential. Because we walk with God, and He is perfect, we have to keep progressing to be more like Him.

Prayer:
Father God, I need Your inspiration, direction, discretion and anointing for me to become more like You! In Your name mighty God I ask, Amen!
