Jesus, the Alpha and Omega
Revelation 22:13 ESV
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
Jesus proclaimed Himself to be the “Alpha and Omega.” Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. Jesus as the Beginning and the End of all things is a reference to the one true God.
This statement means Jesus is everything and all things and the creator of all things. It is equivalent to saying He has always existed and always will exist. “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3).
Jesus begins all things and carries all things through to completion. He is the totality, the sum and substance of the Scriptures, both of the Law and of the Gospel (John 1:1, 14). He is found in the first verse of Genesis and in the last verse of Revelation.
The Alpha and Omega, in the form of Jesus Christ, is our sufficiency, victory, and identity. There is nothing a believer can face that Jesus Christ isn’t capable of handling. Philippians 1:6 says, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Prayer:
Jesus thank you that You are my all in all. Everything I need from beginning to the end and then forever!
