In the Fullness of Time
Galatians 4:4-5 ESV
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
God has always had a plan, nothing surprises Him. But we were born under the law until we received grace. It is impossible to measure up according to the law because of our nature is prone to sin.
Paul said in Romans 7:5, “For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.” He then says in 7:10, “The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me.”
His conclusion; “For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.” (Romans 7:22-23) But then He says in Romans 8:3, “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh (in the fullness of time) and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh…”
The results? Grace and the adoption as sons and daughters of God. God, through His Son, came under the law and flesh to show us the way out through grace.
Prayer:
Father, You love us so much, You did the unthinkable and You came in flesh to lead us out of darkness. You are so amazing!
