Jesus, the Prince of Peace
Isaiah 9:6 ESV
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Prince of Peace, the world cannot understand this about Jesus because the world is full of chaos. The only peace the world understands is the absence of conflict. Jesus is our inner peace. The peace that happens inside to bring us rest when things are chaotic around us.
Living peaceful lives doesn’t mean life will be easy. Jesus never promised easy; He only promised help. In fact, He told us to expect tribulation and trials. He also said that, if we called on Him, He would give us the “peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension”.
No matter what hardships we are faced with, we can ask for a peace that comes from the powerful love of God. That kind of Peace is not dependent on our own strength or the situations around us.
It depends on us letting go of the chaotic problems, sorrows and cares and hand them over to Jesus, then He gives us peace of heart, mind and spirit for our problems. Christmas time is a reminder of the Prince of Peace that God gave to the world and us individually.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for Your gift of love to me. Your Son is my Prince of Peace. I don’t have to be worried and distressed. In fact, all I need to do is cast my cares on You for You care for me!
