Sons and Daughters of God
John 1:10-13
“He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
God loved mankind so much, that He created us in His image. He also created the world for us to enjoy, and to take care of it. Yet, when God came to this earth to redeem us, the world did not recognize Him because they had preconceived notions of who God was. He even came to the people that were God’s own people, and they failed to recognize Him because of their preconceived notions. (There’s a sermon there, I can feel it.)
Some believed, but their faith was so small they turned away from Him when life became difficult. There was a handful of people that did believe in Him. For those who did believe, and for those who are still coming to Him every day, He gave special honor. He calls them sons and daughters of God.
He just wanted us to love Him, listen to Him, accept Him, believe in Him and walk close beside Him. That’s not too much to ask, is it? Especially when it comes with great benefits.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, there is no luck that brought us to You, but it was destiny! When Your Spirit drew us to you and we turned around and believed, it was at that moment we became sons and daughters of the Most High God. We were lost in darkness, but You sent the light, and we saw the light and believed because of the faith that You placed in each and every one of us. Thank You Lord Jesus, Amen!
