Jesus- Teacher
John 13:13 ESV
“You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.”
Of the 90 times Jesus was addressed directly in the gospels, 60 times he was called Teacher. The disciples and people who gathered to hear Jesus’s sermon that He preached on the Mount of Olives, we’re astounded at His teaching.
They said in Matthew 7:28-29, And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.”
Jesus taught many times to the crowds in parables (prudent but common illustrations with deep spiritual meaning). Mark 4:1-2 ESV “Again He began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about Him, so that He got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. And He was teaching them many things in parables…”
After 3-1/2 years of ministry and teaching, He told His disciples; “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV).
Whatever you have learned from Jesus, you have the responsibility to teach others.
Prayer:
Jesus, as Simon Peter once said, “…You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” Thank You for all that You have taught us!
