No Lack
Psalms 34:8,10 ESV
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.”
To “taste and see,” is to consider a matter seriously. Here David encourages us to not just try God, dive in one hundred percent into God and that He represents. I’ve seen thousand just consider God, and try God, but that is not getting the best experience like when you have a relationship with God. Those who just try God end up falling back into the old life.
Getting the best from God involves reading, studying, and understanding the written Word of God and coming into a closer relationship with God. Before anyone says that they do not understand the Bible, there are 450 translations of the Bible and thousands of study guides.
The Lord commissioned Joshua to lead the Hebrews into Canaan, He instructed him to meditate day and night on His Word (Joshua 1:8). Meditating involves reputition. Everyone who seriously studies and applies God’s Word learns firsthand that the Lord is good. That He wants to cultivate a relationship with us.
The person who tastes and sees that the Lord is good, will find He is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalms 46:1). David said even the strong lions will suffer lack and hunger. David offers a guarantee; This guarantee is not for those who just want to try God, but those who seek the Lord and keep seeking, and keep seeking, and keep seeking Him, then, they will lack no good thing.
Now, I can tell you all of this by my personal experiences. I have tasted the good things of God and received not just things, but wisdom, knowledge, understanding and more than enough to supply my needs.
Until you give yourself to God fully, you will just be sampling food at the table. But if you give Him your all, He will supply all you will ever need.
Prayer:
Lord, When I feed upon Your goodness, “Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, how great Thou art, how great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, how great Thou art, how great Thou art.” I Love You Lord, Amen!
