The Father’s Message
John 17:6-8 ESV
“I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.”
The disciples are undoubtedly hearing Jesus speak to the Father directly, what an amazing scene this must have been for the disciples.
Jesus says to the Father in this passage, “For I have given them the words that you gave me…” So, everything that Jesus has said came from the Father and delivered in such a way that the disciples could understand the Father as if for the first time hearing Him.
The world to the point of Jesus coming only heard the words of the Father through prophecies and prophets. The worlds viewpoint of God was obscure at best, coming from man that used their own inflections and manner of speaking.
Now Jesus comes, who is God in flesh, and He begins to speak the words of God without judgment, without bitterness or condemnation. He speaks out of love and understanding. He speaks to impart life, hope and healing.
The words of God that we have received from God has to be delivered in the same manner, out of love and understanding, to help and to heal and restore. God spoke through His Son, now, we speak what we hear.
Prayer:
Lord, touch my heart, my mind and my tongue to speak as You want others to hear. Help me to deliver Your words in truth, in love, in understanding and in Your purity, so the world will hear from You! Amen!
