Our Foundation
Luke 6:46-49 ESV
“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
Two different houses were built, but only one had a solid foundation, Jesus Christ. The other house had no foundation No real depth in God’s word. Those houses without a proper foundation, are the houses that you see on the nightly news at flood stage, they are floating down the river.
Our foundation, if it is on Jesus Christ, is built correctly. That is IF we hear and obey the truth from God. Why is that? When troubles, trials and temptations come, we will be able to handle the things that life throws at us.
When we do not have a strong foundation in God’s words, then when troubles and trials come, we fall apart. We are dismayed, we sit in the ashes of gloom and despair.
Strengthen yourself in the words of God. Then as the world gets worse, the economy falls apart, morals and standards in society crumbles, we will have the answers. We will have the strength, and ability to stand for God, and reach a helping hand to the lost.
Prayer:
Lord, build my house on the Rock. Feed me daily in Your word. Shine a light around me that I may be guided by Your words. “Let Your word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my pathway.” In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
