Knowing His Name

Psalms 9:10 ESV

“And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”

What does it mean to know God’s name? God told Israel that He would place His name in Jerusalem. His name meant that His presence would be there, His love, His attributes, His peace and His power would be with them if they would obey Him, which means to trust Him. In this Psalm, David says that those who know God’s name will put their trust in Him. If we know Him intimately, if we know His character, His strengths, His power, His mercy, His love, and that He will do anything for us if we will trust Him, then He will fight our battles and bring us into peace no matter what situation that we are in. God wants to be our everything. He wants to be our sun in the morning and our strength throughout the day. He wants to be our hero!

Prayer:

Lord, to know You is to trust You! To know You is to love You and put our whole confidence in You. To know You is to know all of Your attributes and benefits because we have allowed You to take control of every situation both good and bad in our lives. You, Lord, are able and willing to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). In Your name Lord Jesus we pray, Amen!
