Spiritual Truths
Matthew 11:25 ESV
“At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things (spiritual truths) from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children.”
First, what are spiritual truths? Spiritual truths are a lot of things concerning the God head (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
Things like creation, the relationship between God and man, the personal relationship that He desires with us. Redemption, salvation, and justification through Jesus Christ. The perfect will of God in our lives, home, and church. The works of the Holy Spirit in the past, present and future. How He works in us and through us. The characteristics of Christian living, just to hit the highlights.
Jesus is praying, and He thanks God that He kept these things from the wise and understanding. Why? Because the wise at this point were the Scribes, Pharisees and the Sadducees and the Jewish Council. These people thought they knew everything but the were not open and receptive to Gods words and the prophecies, nor were they interested in a right relationship with God.
Instead, Jesus reveals the things of God and the spiritual truths to the commoners that have not built-up walls for themselves. The ones that are open and receptive to God. The ones with listening ears and open minds and hearts to all that God has to offer.
Prayer:
Thank You Jesus that You have revealed Yourself to us, and in seeing You we see the Father and we have the Holy Spirit abiding in us. You have laid out the spiritual truths in Your words and in the words of the Father. It is up to us to go and seek them out. Open our hearts, minds and eyes to see all that You have for us. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
