Where You Need Me Lord
Matthew 25:37-40 ESV
“I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
What should our attitude be when we are faced with a situation in people’s lives where they need our help, and we have the power and the finances to help? Yes, I believe we have to be responsible to our own life needs, especially for those who on a fixed income, but we should be open, receptive and willing to ask God, what He would have us to do.
I was getting gas for my truck the other day at a convenience store, I looked up at one point and saw a man coming out of the store with a small bag that appeared to have a drink and a snack in the bag. The gentleman walked out of the store and around to a man that was sitting on the ground, and the gentleman handed the bag to the man on the ground. The man on the ground was so thankful.
It was a simple act of kindness, a simple gesture that probably cost less than five dollars, but it brought the man on the ground such joy.
We encounter these people every day. People that are in need and I know we can’t always help everyone, but there are divine appoints where we can help. Jesus gave some practical needs; food for the hungry, drink for the thirsty, greet a stranger, cloth the ones who do not have clothes, visit those who are sick or in prison (or those who feel like they are in their own prison). Because when we have the capability and act, it is just like we had did it for Jesus Himself.
Prayer:
Lord, lead me to where You need me. Give me the love, concern and capability to minister where You need me and show kindness to those who need You and our compassion. In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
