Predetermined Purpose
Proverbs 20:24 NASB
“A man’s steps are ordained by the Lord;
How then can a person understand his way?”
God does not drag us through life without any free will or choice. We have a choice, but God still knows exactly the path that we are on and how it ends up.
This proverb notes that God is ultimately in control of all things, and we will not always understand the circumstances we face. It is important to trust Him to direct us in the right way. Proverbs 3:4–6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
Our understanding is limited, so we know we can trust God because His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Why worry about today or tomorrow? Let God have control, but work with Him, stop fighting Him. See the world through His eyes, get to know Him, watch how He is trying to move in your life. Allow wisdom, knowledge and understanding of His ways settle in your heart.
You may not choose your destiny, but God has your best interest at heart, He wants you to succeed, He wants you to enjoy the journey. You know the final destination if you know Him so enjoy the journey, enjoy the twists and turns and the stops along the way. Get involved in His plan for your life, I promise it will be a great adventure.
Prayer:
Lord, I’m looking to you, the Author and Finisher of my faith. I’m going to trust You for the process, I’m going to watch You through life and learn Your ways!
