John 1:29
“The next day he (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
God gave us His best for the sacrifice to end all sacrifices. Until Jesus, worshipers of God had to take a perfect sacrifice to the temple in Jerusalem once a year to make atonement for sins. The priest would offer the sacrifices, and sprinkle the blood on the mercy seat. This had to be done year after year.
God ended the sacrifices with Jesus, he was the Lamb that took away the sins of the world. What we have to do now is offer God sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving and we do that in several different ways;
We can praise, honor and glorify God by singing, worshiping or play instruments in worship to Him.
Or, we could give of our time to the Lord’s work, that’s a great sacrifice of praise.
Or, we could give alms offerings to God in the form of tithes and offerings, that’s good worship.
Or we could go visit someone and pray for them and lift them up, that’s good worship.
Or, we could fellowship with other believers, encouraging them and allowing them to encourage us, that’s good worship.
The one criteria is, we have to give Him our best for it to be called a sacrifice of praise. No short changing God on worship, servitude, time, money, visitations and fellowship, Otherwise it’s just second best. Like offering God a sacrificial lamb with a broken leg.
Prayer:
Father, You gave me Your best, I owe You my best!
