2 Corinthians 5:6-7 ESV

“So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight.”

For Paul, who wrote this, his life as a Christian was full of hardships and suffering, but he still found a way to be encouraged and joyful. Hardships did not taint his witness or his walk. In fact, he was always looking ahead, pressing on, witnessing, and encouraging others. He did not let his present sufferings taint his walk, his talk, or his demeanor. Paul even states in verse 6 that he is always in good courage.

He longed to one day be with Jesus, but that longing did not stop him from living out his destiny. His quest was to let the whole known world know who Jesus was and what He had done for us. His quest was to show the true light of the Father, that He was not a vengeful God or a judgmental God but a loving caring gracious God.

Paul’s ultimate goal was to be with Jesus in glory, and he longed for that day, but that longing did not stop him from pressing on. Paul had a mission, a quest, a destiny.

We have goals and dreams to provide for us and our families. We have goals to save for retirement and make a comfortable place for us to settle in as we get older. None of this should keep us from telling of the Saviors love, being a living testimony of His grace. With the things we have to do in this life, make opportunities to live for Jesus. Keep heaven in mind, press on for Jesus as we walk this life.

Prayer:

Lord, we owe You so much, we owe You our lives, our hearts our hands, feet and our voice to tell of Your love. Don’t let us get bogged down with life that we forget who we are and who we represent. We long to be with You, but we have a mission in this life, strengthen us for this day. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven today, Lord, Amen!
