Exuberant Praise!

Psalms 111: 1-4, 6 ESV
“Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and His righteousness endures forever.

He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations.”

Exuberant praise refers to something beyond the intellectual, a type of praise that moves from the head to the heart, and is expressed in words and actions.

We also know it refers to something beyond the individual. Exuberance should be an expression of our worship. The reason so many people don’t experience exuberant worship is because their expectations are too low. Some expect to feel good and inspired following worship. Inevitably they will say, “I didn’t like that.”

Some expect worship to be dignified, beautiful, and ordered but that’s not exactly exuberant either. Exuberant worship flows up from the Spirit, into the heart (not the physical heart) and comes out of our mouth and moves us to a level of worship where we forget about everything, problems, schedules, appointments and we lose ourselves in passion towards God.

This Psalm is David in exuberant worship. His words flow, they worship, they give God glory and honor and in return God honors us with His presence, with His saving power and with His deliverance.

Prayer:
Father, there is none like You! Creator of all things, my Strong Tower, my Shield and my Deliverer, my Hope, my Strength. I worship You! I worship You!
