An Attitude of Gratitude
Psalms 107: 1-3 ESV
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.”
Reasons to give God thanks should be an endless list. I thank God that He loves me and did not just wipe me off the map because sometimes I can be so stupid in my walk with Him.
David lists a few things in Psalms 107 that I know we can get on board with and thank God for.
1) Give God thanks because He is good, very good, all the time, and all the time, God is good.
2) Gives thanks to God because of His steadfast love. His love never fails, never stops, never gives up, never holds a grudge, never diminishes, never stops drawing us back to Him, never stops seeking us out.
3) Give thanks to God because He has redeemed us- He bought us back from the world with a price, a hefty price, the life of His own Son! That’s extreme love!
4) He redeemed us from trouble; He is our shield and rampart (a defensive wall of a castle or walled city). He will bring us out of ANY trouble. There is nothing too hard for our God.
5) “He has…gathered (us) from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.” God seeks us out.
He already knows where we are, but the imagery is like a shepherd seeking his lost sheep. We are such a prized possession, that He will not stop coming after us, yes, every time we get lost.
Prayer:
Father God, I always want to have an attitude of gratitude. I always want to know and remember that I can do nothing good on my own unless You are there working through me.
I acknowledge that I need You and nothing that was good in my life was random chance, it was because of Your great love for me. In Your name Great Shepherd, Amen!
