Hear Him
Luke 6:17-18a
“And He (Jesus) came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases.”
It ’s a natural concept that we want to be healed. We want to go through life and the daily process, pain free, uninhibited, to do what we need to do. There is nothing wrong with that. What we saw in Jesus’s day is that they were so focused on having their needs met. They wanted the healing more than they wanted to hear what Jesus had to say.
If they had known that Jesus was the Son of God,. That His words were precisely the words of God the Father given to bring life, hope, and healing. They could have had mental and spiritual healing and the physical healing that they sought after.
We also get in a mode where we want physical healing before we want mental and spiritual healing. Genetics and what we suffer in our bodies these days seems to be forefront of our minds.
To understand Jesus more, should we not devour the words of Jesus, and all the words of God? Bring them to a complete understanding, so we can have healing for our mind and spirit that will last forever. And healing for the body which is temporal and for a moment.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I seek You with every fiber of my being. I want to understand the fullness of Your glory. I want to understand all that You want me to comprehend and let Your words take root in my heart. In Your name Lord Jesus, I ask, Amen!
