Breaking the yoke
Joshua 2:1-4 ESV
“And Joshua the son of Nun sent two men secretly from Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” And they went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab and lodged there. And it was told to the king of Jericho, “Behold, men of Israel have come here tonight to search out the land.”
Then the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who entered your house, for they have come to search out all the land.” But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them.”
Rehabs life had been the life of a prostitute. Never really finding true love, people staring at her when she walked down the street, people whispering about her as she passed by. Not a great life to live. For her is was a yoke of oppression, a yoke that everyone saw including herself.
But one day she made a right choice. As the two spies entered into her home and she found out their story, she made a decision in her heart that would change her coarse. She would believe in God, she would protect the two spies, she would do what it took, even if it meant her being arrested.
This was no surprise to God, He already had a plan for her future, and her future was nothing short of miraculous. She would be saved when Israel envaded and destroyed Jericho. She would go on to marry a Jewish man and she would be the great, great, great, grandmother of David the greatest king of Israel. She would also be in the lineage of Jesus the Christ.
If there is a yoke around your neck that has kept you held down, held you back from being all that God wants you to be, it’s not too late, God can still break that yoke and set you free, it’s never to late to follow His plan for your life.
Prayer:
Father, I know the plans that You have for me. Plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future! Break the yoke that binds!
