Restoration

Psalms 23:1a,3a
“The Lord is my Shepherd… He restores my soul…”

I worked at a place for a period of time where they did not want me to tear down parts of the building or even the entire building and rebuild. They wanted me to just restore the buildings. Restoration is costly, timely, and tedious work, but if it is done right, the building looks like new. In restoration work original materials matter greatly and is imperative to many municipalities.

Restoration means to bring back something to its original state.

Restoration for us, as spiritual beings, is what God started with when He made us, then we entered a life of sin in a sinful world. Thank God, we have been forgiven and He is restoring us daily. The work of restoration in human lives is costly, Jesus gave His life to be beaten, torn, and hung on a cruel cross so that we might live and be free, be restored.
His restoration in is begins when we first believe and confess our sins. He forgave us once and forever of all of our sins. He even promised to cast those sins in the depths of the sea. (Micah 7:19)

His restoration work in our lives is tedious at times. Imagine wanting to come in and change someone’s life that you know is messed up. How do you start that process, talk to them, lead them, prompt them daily, give them things to bring them to a place of success? If any of us has ever tried change someone, most of the time we fail. Jesus never fails!

1 Peter 5:10b says, “the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” He is restoring you and I to our original state of what He wanted us to be, thank You Jesus.

Prayer”
Lord, I echo the words of David in Psalms 51; “…blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. (Psalms 51:1b,2a,10, 12) In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
