The Depth of His Love

Mark 5:1-2, 6, 18-20
“They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit.  And when he saw Jesus from afar, he (the man who was possessed) ran and fell down before Him. 

…He (Jesus) was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit! As He (Jesus) was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him,  “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.”

Jesus took a boat to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, to cast the demon out of this man. This is no small lake and He did not have a motorboat. Jesus gets out of the boat, casts the demons out of the man and then gets back in the boat to cross back over the sea. It must have been important.

Upon Jesus departure the man asks to go with Jesus, but Jesus had bigger plans for this man. The request of Jesus? Go back home and tell your friends what the Lord has done for you. Why not, everyone around that region knew who this man was. It would surely draw a crowd, and while he had their attention, he gave them Jesus, and delivered hope to a region.

Never underestimate your worth to the master, He will cross seas and lay down His life for you!

Prayer:
Lord, You amaze me, Your compassion, Your love astounds me, I stand in awe of You! The length You will go to deliver me is amazing. Thank You Lord, Amen!
