Seeking the Healer

John 5:6 ESV
“When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”

It may seem like an odd question, but Jesus had a purpose for asking a man that was an invalid for thirty-eight years if he wanted to be healed. The answer should have been a resounding yes but if we follow the story all the man offered was excuses why he couldn’t get his healing.

Jesus does the same for us every day. Do we want to be healed not just physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. Too often we live with the things that this life has burdened us with instead of saying to Jesus, “YES, I want to be healed mind, soul, spirit and body.”

If we followed the story line in John 5:1-17, we would see that this man was looking for a healing, but he most certainly not looking for the Healer. Too often people get bogged down with their needs that they forget who can and does supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory.

Too often we forget that Jesus is the Lord of mercy, grace, truth and healing as well. Today seek the Healer and not just the healing. To seek the healing, we will get possibly a onetime healing, but to seek the Healer we get a lifetime of healing, restoration, peace and joy.

Prayer:
Lord, I seek You early this morning, I need a healer for my mind, soul, spirit and my body. I seek You no matter what I get. I seek You because You are the one who can supply what I need mentally, physically, and emotionally. I ask in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
