Blessed Are the Forgiven

Psalms 32:1-2 ESV
“Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man (or woman) against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.”

The Amplified version uses this phrase for the word blessed, “fortunate, prosperous, favored by God.” So, we are blessed, fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God when we are forgiven of our sins and trespasses. We have been counted as people that are justified and made righteous in God’s sight.

It doesn’t matter what we did ten, twenty, thirty, or more years ago. All of our sins have been blotted out.  It doesn’t matter if we have sinned yesterday or even today, when we seek the forgiveness of God our sins have been blotted out. Forgiven, forgotten, never to be brought up again.

The problem for most of us is, we can’t forgive ourselves. God says we are righteous in His sight, but in our sight, we are not worth being forgiven completely.

Psalms 103; 10-12 says, “He (God) doesn’t deal with us according to our sin  or repay us according to our wrongdoing, because as high as heaven is above the earth, that’s how large God’s faithful love is for those who honor him. As far as east is from west—that’s how far God has removed our sin from us.”

1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Prayer:
Lord, I believe You have purposefully forgiven and forgotten all my sins. I accept that forgiveness and I understand that I have to forgive myself. I rely on Your Holy Spirit within me to guide me each day to walk in Your integrity. In Your gracious loving name Lord Jesus, Amen!
