Luke 6:31 AMP
“Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.”
This week I have watched people, not knowing if they were Christians or not. I’ve seen people that were unfriendly, people ignore other people, people that were downright rude to other people and people that didn’t care about anything but themselves.
Unfortunately society has breeded a selfish society. Society says “what’s in it for me,” and they live to please themselves no matter who they hurt.
There are approximately 7.8 billion people on the earth and the statistic is that 2.5 billion claim they are Christians. I used to be able to pick out the Christians in a crowd, now it is getting harder to do so.
I think Christians should set the standard, be over courteous and kind making other people feel important, needed and valued. To turn the tide of a selfish society, we may have to be a bit over the top with our courtesy. Love more, hate less, show others that they matter, that they are important. I do realize it is not always easy to do so.
Jesus and twelve disciples turned the world upside down for God and the world killed them for it, but their work and memories of their deeds lives on.
We have not struggled to the point of bloodshed yet. (Hebrews 12:4) We still have the ability in this day and age to be who Christ has called us to be. “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you,” is no easy, but it is rewarding.
Prayer:
Father, as you have done for me, teach me to be merciful, kind and gracious to others.
