Psalms 146:6-8 NLT
“He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down…”

In this Psalm, although David is not generally recognized as the author, this Psalmist starts with ascribing God as the creator or all things. This is an important acknowledgment because we live in a world where creation is quickly being pushed aside to the big bang theory or evolution and Darwinism.

We believe and know that God created all things. The next part of this Psalm it says, “He keeps every promise forever.” Every promise that God has made He will keep. If you look for the promises of God throughout the Bible you will see He has fulfilled or He will fulfill them.

The next part of this Psalm is where most people will perk up and listen; “He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry.” People want to hear that. We all seek justice or what is right and fair in our lives. We all want provisions. If we look back to the previous sentence it says He keeps His promises.

Jesus said seek first the kingdom of God and God will provide the things we need. The next part says; the Lord frees the prisoners…opens the eyes of the blind, both spiritually and physically. He lifts up those who are weighed down, and we all want that as well.

This short segment of Psalms 146 let’s us know what God will do for us but most important is who God is to us, Creator, Father, Deliverer, Provider… and what God has promised, He will fulfill in our lives. God loves the godly who will recognize who He is not just what He does for us.

Prayer:
Father, I worship You, Creator, Father, the one True God. I love You because You first loved me.
