Enlightened

Ephesians 1:16b-18
“I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.  I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope He has given to those He called—His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance.”

Paul’s prayer for the church of Ephesus is a prayer for all believers. Paul asked God to give them (us) spiritual wisdom and insight, those two things we desperately need.

Paul is asking God to give them (us) a deeper and greater understanding of the mysteries of His character and will, to know Him more thoroughly and intimately. The Amplified translation puts it like this: “may (God) grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him.”

God is infinite, and we will never understand all the things of God on our own, we need the  wisdom of God to help us understand. This Spiritual wisdom is something the Holy Spirit will give us as we seek to understand more fully the things of God. Insight infers a hidden knowledge that has to be sought after.

Today, seek God more deeply, get to know His nature, His love, His mercy, His truth.

Prayer:
“God, give us spiritual wisdom and insight so that we might grow in the knowledge of who You are and Your will for our lives. I ask that our hearts will be flooded with light so that we can understand the confident hope You have given to us. We need to know You more!  In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
