Needing A Savior
John 14:6 ESV
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”
We have heard and probably memorized this scripture. It’s a very important scripture, it holds the key to having a relationship with God.
Jesus said that He, never speaks on His own, but only speaks what the Father gives Him. In this scripture He says, “I am the way.” He is the way and the only way to the Father. If we want a relationship with God, we start by receiving Jesus as our Lord, Savior, Shepherd, Healer, Redeemer. He is the way to the Father, but He is also the way when there just doesn’t seem to be a way around our problems, troubles and fears. Jesus is the Way Maker.
Jesus also said He is the truth. John said that He was the Word of God, the Words of God are truth for life (John 1:1). Jesus revealed the truth to the world of who God is. Much of the world saw God in the Old Testament as a judgmental God. Jesus revealed the truth about God that God is Holy, loving, kind, and full of grace and mercy. He revealed that God wants a relationship with each and every one of us individually and collectively. When we see the works and the words of Jesus, we hear God speaking to us. God bought us back through Jesus His Son and made us righteous, set apart for Himself.
Jesus said that He was the life. That is a true life the way God meant for it to be. A life of love and acceptance, a life of peace in the middle of storms, a life of hope and courage. Life has its challenges, but Jesus brings up the valleys and brings down the mountains as we walk with Him. This meaningful life is a life lived on His terms, with His blessings and peace. It is a life of hope and promises.
Lastly, we cannot have come to the Father without Jesus in our lives. When we accept Jesus, then we can go to the Father anytime, anywhere. We have continuous access because of the Blood that cleanses us from all sin and makes us Holy and acceptable to God.
