Hidden Treasures
Isaiah 45:3 NLT
“And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.”
This message was from God to Cyrus the king of a foreign country. Cyrus the king of the Achaemenid Empire, and was the monarch who ended the Babylonian captivity. In the first year of his reign he was prompted by God to decree that the Temple in Jerusalem should be rebuilt and that Jews who wished to, could return to their homeland for this purpose.
In this passage, Isaiah prophesies a message from God, telling Cyrus, “I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—secret riches I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.” If we believe God can use a common man, of a foreign Kingdom, and put him in a path to set the Jewish people free, and start rebuilding Jerusalem and then reward that man for following through with God’s plan. Then we have to believe that God will anoint His people (us) to carry out His work in our time.
The reward is not just heaven, which is great in itself, and our eternal reward, but He will provide gifts, talents, opportunities, blessings in our lifetime as well. We must be faithful, follow through in anything that God opens up for us, and work until He comes. He will provide everything we need, those things may be hidden for a time but God will manifest what we need when we need it.
Prayer:
Father, I thank You because You always see the circumstances in my life, You know the path I’m on and what lies ahead in my future. You know exactly what I need and when I need it, but You also want me to prosper so I can help others as Cyrus did. Use me Lord!
