Mark 5:18-19 ESV
“As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, “’Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”‘
It’s a natural emotion for a man that was tormented for so long that he just wanted to be with his healer, Jesus. To get out of the tombs, to get away from the past, to get away from the jeers of the people. No longer in the chains of Satan, no longer in his daily torment. He just wanted to be in the presence of Jesus.
We can relate to that; when. Jesus came in our life and gave us peace in our hearts and spirits sometimes we just want to get out of here and be with Jesus. Jesus wasn’t being mean to the man or shunning him, Jesus was actually putting him in his own ministry, powered by the Holy Spirit and ordained by God.
He told the man; “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” Sounds like the lead into a great ministry. I would imagine the man won hundreds through his testimony.
I can see the headlines for his revivals: “Come see a man who was delivered by Jesus the Christ that lived in the tombs and was controlled by demons and he could not be bound with chains.”
Jesus has delivered us as well and liberated us from the hands of Satan, He has set us free and he gives us the same mandate; Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
Prayer:
Father open my mouth that I may speak forth Your praises and tell all that you have done for me.
