Teach Me Your Ways Lord

Psalms 25:5

“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

In this passage David establishes who God is to Him. He said that God is his Savior, that God is the hope for his day. With that thought he asks God to guide him in His truth. In other words, whatever God wants for David to know each morning is what David wanted and needed to hear. It’s like a fresh word. God’s promises are new every morning because those promises contain fresh hope, fresh understanding, fresh opportunities.

Getting up in the morning, I say to myself, “It is a brand-new day, we have never seen this day before.” So today does not have to look like yesterday unless we make it like yesterday. Today has new possibilities, perhaps fresh opportunities.

So, with David we will pray this way:

Prayer:

Lord, take us by the hand and lead us to where You want us to be. If it is in green pastures, (a place for peace and provisions), when we get there, teach us what we need to know today. If it be a place of adversity like dark valleys, teach us to lean on You and hold our hand while we walk through them, then we will learn how to navigate the dark places. Lord, You are all we have. You are our Savior, redeemer, our hope, security, and guide. This day, You are our hope all day long. In Your name we ask, Amen!
