Proverbs 25:28 ESV
“A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.”
A city broken down is a city without walls, it is undefended and open to invaders. Such a city is compared to the man who puts no restraint on his passions, desires, and affections; he is always in danger of being carried away by his passions and involved in sin and destruction; he has no defence when temptation assaults him, having lost self-control.
This kind of man is a representative of those without God intricately involved their lives, Without hope, without the cleansing blood of Christ, without the fruits of the Spirit, trying to survive life on their own. But “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in time of trouble.” (Psalms 46:1)
