The Miracles in Delivering God’s People
Exodus 12:33-36 ESV
“The Egyptians were urgent with the people to send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.” So the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading bowls being bound up in their cloaks on their shoulders.
The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing. And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.”
The Israelites had to get across the Red Sea in one night. Now if they went on a narrow path, double file, the line would be about 500 miles long and require 35 days. So to get it over in one night there had to be a space in the Red Sea about 2 miles wide.
The Lord had to feed 2 million plus people, every day. For one day, according to the U. S. Army’s Quartermaster General, these people required 1500 tons of food a day, that takes two freight trains, each a mile long.
The Israelits were cooking the food (not to mention for keeping warm, and if anyone tells you it doesn’t get cold in the desert don’t believe them!). Just for cooking this took 4000 tons of firewood and a few more freight trains, each a mile long and this is only for one day!
If they only had enough to drink and wash a few dishes (no bathing?!), it took 11,000,000 gallons EACH DAY—enough to fill a train of tanker cars 1800 miles long. Those statistics are for 1 day, the children of Israel wondered in the dessert for forty years. How amazing is our God? Not to mention His patience with the Israelites, and His mercy.
Prayer:
Father, You always amaze me of Your love, mercy, Your grace, patience and Your amazing peace. I can never thank You enough!
