The Kingdom of God Is Here
Mark 1:15 ESV
“Now after John (the Baptist) was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
The timing was right, it may have been on the heels of John the Baptist being arrested, but I believe that the timing was perfect for Jesus to begin His ministry. Jesus said that “the time is fulfilled,” which means the right time had come when the Father had stated that His kingdom would be established. Many for thousands of years had sought the time of the kingdom of God to come. God had a universal plan, and He knew the exact moment the kingdom would begin and from that moment on, His kingdom will never end. When Jesus said, “and the kingdom of God is at hand:” He meant that God’s reign was no longer a distant belief, but it was a present reality. Most did not understand that day what Jesus was saying or what had just begun. It was not a monarchy that came to because of a war this was a spiritual reign that would turn into a physical reality. This was a crucial turning point in time, God established through His Son the spiritual and the physical reign of King Jesus. There wasn’t any fanfare with this King, but I guarantee that heaven and earth shook at the words of Jesus that day. The kingdom of God is here!
Prayer:
Lord, we want to be where You are and we want to be a part of Your kingdom, so we give our lives to You afresh and anew. Your kingdom come, Your will be done in us. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
