The Truth

1 Timothy 2:1, 3-4 ESV
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all peopleā€¦This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

How do we direct our prayers? Do we just include ourselves, immediate family, some loved ones and some close friends? Maybe some specifics for healing and restoration?

Paul says that we need to pray for all people everywhere, even the undesirable that they would be saved. For political leaders, whether we voted for them or not. After all it pleases the Lord.

What is this salvation that we are praying for? People to be rescued, people to be restored, snatching some out of the fire. Is it really our problem? No, but it is our duty as Christians. We deserved to be rescued, they deserve to be rescued.

Paul says that we need to pray that all men, women, boys and girls need to come to the knowledge of the truth.” What is this truth?

Truth that God is our Creator, truth that He bought us back with the sacrifice of His own Son. Truth that God is a God of love, mercy, and grace. Truth that God is not out to get us but He does want a close relationship with everyone and He wants to bless, restore, revitalize everyone, even though sadly,  everyone will not turn to Him.

Prayer:
Lord, for those in our family who are lost, bring them to the truth. For all those in our circle of influence, bring them to the truth. For our nation, state and city officials that do not know You, bring them to the truth. For those in all the other countries of the world, bring them to the truth! In Jesus name we ask, Amen!
