Deuteronomy 25:15 ESV
“A full and fair weight you shall have, a full and fair measure you shall have, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”
A fair and honest weight and measurement had to do with how the ancients did business in the market place. That is essentially, how we should do business, how we should treat people, and how we should live our lives. I know we never try to cheat anyone or lie to get the advantage on purpose, but we should never unfairly judge anyone, nor should we look down on anyone.
We should set the standard of fair, honest and accurate in this world as Christians. Time and time again I hear of Christians arrogance and the attitude of superiority among church leaders. We were placed on this earth not just to live and die, we were placed hear to reach the lost, to live our lives simply and with integrity.
We were placed here to be the salt and light of this world. We are supposed to be examples of Jesus Christ, a people who are the exception not part of the norm. I found that most of the time our testimony is lived out in our attitude, gratitude and speech. As crazy as the world is right now, and it will get worse, people will be looking for those who are different, those who are honest, true and of a good report.
Prayer:
Father, make me more like Jesus and less of me!
