Who May Be in God’s presence?

Psalms 15: 1-4 NLT
“Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.”

Who can be in the presence of God? Anyone, as long as they approach through Jesus Christ. But David gives quite a list of requirements that we need to pay attention to.

1. Those who are blameless. In other words, who are forgiven or are seeking forgiveness.

2. Those who speak the truth from a truthful, honest heart.

3. Those who do not slander. David’s requirement was not to slander a neighbor. Jesus said anyone in need is our neighbor. Basically, anyone is our neighbor, friends, or enemies.

4. Those who despise the flagrant sin but love the sinner.

5. Those who honor or bring honor to other Christians.

6. Those who keep their promises even when they may suffer loss.

This is quite a list, but an honest list. We always want to be in the presence of God, when we go to God today, think about David’s list.

Prayer:
Father God, let me be true to You and Your values. Let me be a person of integrity who is willing to forgive, willing to honor my brothers and sisters, willing to keep my word even if it brings me hurt. In Your Holy name Father, Amen!
