Consider the Greatness of Our God
Psalms 8:3-4a,
“When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him…”
I was reminded last week that God has always been, and He will always be. God, somewhere in the millions of years that the galaxies were formed, He created the stars, the vastness of this ever-expanding expanse of space.
Then, thousands of years ago He looked at the earth that had already existed somewhere in His time, and He decided to create a safe place for His creation of mankind and beasts, birds and the fish of the sea, trees and every living plant.
Genesis 1:2 says, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” God began to create a place for all mankind and every living thing.
In all the greatness of our universe, the sun, the moon, the stars and the planets just in our solar system. it is just a speck compared to the galaxies outside our universe. Yet, in all this greatness of God’s creation, He chose to place His Spirit in mankind, on this one planet, in all this vast expanse because He desired fellowship with His creation.
He provided a beautiful place for us to live. He gave man and woman the responsibility of taking care of this earth, dominion was in their power, but they chose to give up that dominion.
In the fullness of time, He gave us His Son to come to earth, to show us the way back to the Father, to grasp once and for all time a right relationship with God. God’s only Son paid for our sins forever by dying a merciless death on a cross. Through His Son’s death and resurrection, He reclaimed dominion, all the power over the enemy for us, forever, providing the freedom from condemnation of our sins and bringing us back into a right relationship with God.
Prayer:
Father, You are mighty, holy, magnificent, all powerful, all knowing, yet You put Your love in our hearts. What is man that You are mindful of him? You created everything, but You determined to have a relationship with Your creation. I’m in awe of You Mighty God. I owe You my all! Amen!
