Joy

John 15:10-11 ESV
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”

These two verses are cause and effect scriptures. If we obey God’s words, we will live in Jesus’s love. If we obey God’s words and live in Jesus’s love, we will have His joy, and better than that, FULL joy.

I think it is very simple. Jesus taught what the Father taught Him (John 5:19). Now He is telling us, if we keep and teach what the words of God have taught us, we are living in the Father’s will and experiencing the greatest form of love. If that were not enough for us, He pours out His joy in us until we are full and running over with joy.

If there is anything I know about God, He is not a God that helps us to get by, He is the God of more than enough. David said, “…My cup overflows.” (Psalms 23:5b) Do you need joy? Do you need extravagant love and acceptance? Then obey God’s words and seek them out daily so you know how to please Him more, you will have what you are seeking.

Prayer:
Lord God, early in the morning will I rise up and seek you, (Psalms 63:1). There Your words will be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my pathway (Psalms 119:105) . There I will find fullness of love and joy! Amen!
