Abide In Me
John 15:4-5
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”
There is a saying in Amos 3:3 NLT that says, “Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?” Basically, God is saying to Israel in this Amos 3:3 passage, there can be no fellowship between God and mankind unless they can agree on a direction to go. The only direction has to be God’s way, not ours, if we want the best out of life and the future.
In this passage today, John 15:4-5, Jesus says, “Abide in me and I in you.” In other words, let’s agree on a direction. If we walk with Jesus and trust Him, and He walks with us and trusts us and we know He has all the answers, all the power, and all the rewards, we have agreed on a direction. He goes on to say, that if we want to produce an ultimate crop of good works and blessings, stay close to Him. Let Him abide in us and He will live and produce through us.
Now if we were fruit trees, we would bear only what we are, and only as much as the sun and soil will allow us to produce. When we live through Jesus and abide in His grace, power, and blessings, we have endless possibilities, we produce an abundant harvest of good works and blessings.
I’m not sure if you understood what I typed, but it was ENDLESS possibilities! Stay in the vine and we have endless possibilities in Spiritual things, and endless possibilities in mental and physical wellbeing. Endless possibilities of good works.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I choose to abide in You, and when I do, I know You will abide in me. I want to stay connected to you, because without You, I can do nothing, nothing at all. But in You I have endless possibilities. Endless possibilities to do much for you and to succeed in life as well. In Your matchless name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
