Luke 6:46-48 ESV
“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?  Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like:  he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.”

Obedience and follow through (doing what He said) are two defining characteristics of the true follower of Christ. It’s not obedience because we have to, it’s because we want to, because we love Him. John 14:15 ESV says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” Love, obedience, and doing what He said will be living proof of our commitment to Christ.
