Do Not Fear What You Hear
2 Kings 19:6 ESV
“Isaiah said to them, “Say to your master, ‘Thus says the Lord: Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have reviled me.’”
Threats had come from a far country to Hezekiah the King. Hezekiah did fear, but he had the insight to go to God and the prophet of God to hear what God would say about this threat. God took the threat personally, this was not just a threat to Hezekiah and the kingdom, the words spoken minimized who God is. You do not minimize our God and get away with it; God will have the last word. God told Hezekiah through Isaiah, that the enemy would meet there demise in their own country, with his own people. As the enemy does, the king of Assyria sent another threatening message to Hezekiah and another word against our God. Again, it caused Hezekiah to fear but he took the letter to the house of God and laid it on the altar of God.
There are times in this life when things threaten, and it is nothing for those who come against us to believe that no one can save us, but they obviously do not know our God. Our God saw the enemy coming before they started out and He laid a plan to route our enemy. What should we do until the time of our deliverance? Pray, seek God, get our affairs in order, and trust God that He will deliver when we completely depend on Him.
Prayer:
Lord, for all those that are hearing threats and accusations, help them to “fear not.” Help them to not be shocked or dismayed, but give them the resolve to trust You, to run to You, to seek Your face and Your deliverance. Deliver them mightily Lord! I pray that You will receive all the glory for the deliverance. In Your name Lord Jesus we pray, Amen
