Please Don’t Give Up On Me

Psalms 119:5-8 NLT
“Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees! Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands. As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should! I will obey your decrees. Please don’t give up on me!”

Our actions as Christians should always show the character of Christ, consistently. This passage starts out with the writer desiring that his actions would consistently reflect God’s decrees! (Decrees are God’s pronouncement of His will for mankind, start to finish.) To reflect God’s decrees, we must take in His word daily, adapt our lives to coincide with His plan and live out His words in our everyday lives.

Verse 7 says, “As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!” That is the best way to show God that His words are our guide, our strength and the most important words that pertain to an abundant life. Then we live out His words daily! Deuteronomy 28:1-2,6 says; “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.  And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.”

I echo the last verse of our passage today; “I will obey your decrees. Please don’t give up on me!”

Prayer:
Father, we forge out our lives the best way we can, and then we discover Your Word and get it right. We can attest that Your words are the words for living an abundant life, a productive life and a fulfilled life. No one else has the words we need to live by! “I will obey your decrees. Please don’t give up on me!”
