Delighting in God
Psalms 37:4
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Simply put, this verse touts that those delighting in God, seeks and desires the Giver much more than the gift. It means that we want to be in God’s presence, we want His favor more than what we get out of Him. It’s more important to have God in our lives than concentrate on what we can get from God.
But, when we do desire to be with Him most of all, the third promise in this Psalm says, He will bless us with His ultimate favor and grace. I know what most of us have heard, our desires change when we get close to God. That is true, but, “No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” (Psalms 84:11b) God loves to graciously give to His children. He will give us the desires of our heart.
Prayer:
Father, more of You is what I want. Just to be in Your presence, basking in Your glory is my desire. To be strong in Your favor is what I need. In name Your name Father I pray, Amen!
