Trust and Faithfulness

Psalms 37:3
“Trust [rely on and have confidence] in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and feed [securely] on His faithfulness.”

The 37th Psalm contains twenty-five promises. This verse has two of those promises. God offered these promises to Israel, but they failed for the most part to trust God.

Before the promises can be fulfilled, there is a condition involved. 1) Trust God, and 2) do good. Often, we find it easy to fulfill the second condition but are slow in trusting God.

The main reason we should trust God is because He is worthy of our trust. Deuteronomy 23:19 says, “God is not man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?”

Let me help with the answer to this question. NO! To know God unswervingly and completely is to trust Him. If we know Him by learning about Him from a reliable source like the Bible or a faithful Bible teacher, then it is easy to trust Him.

To trust God, rely upon God and have full confidence in God means we will want to do good. To do good, means we are to expect His promises in our lives. The promise to dwell in the land means that where He has opened up the door for us or provided for us, we will dwell in peace and security, and we will securely rest in His faithfulness to us.

Prayer:
Father, we rely on You, our eyes are fixed on You, because in You all good resides. You want us to rely and trust in You, You want us to depend on You. When we do trust completely in You, we know You provide for all of our needs according to Your riches in glory! Amen!
